Creating Magic

I think, ultimately, why weddings are such a big part of our lives and why we place such emphasis on the celebration of a marriage is because of the magic of it all. That out of all the people in the world, you found the one you do not want to live without. Not only is that magical, it’s worthy of a celebration. We all love attending weddings because we are witness to the magic and are therefore part of it.

The sort of celebration is where your individuality comes in. Magic is magic. It is not a one-size fits all formula by any means. The magic you create is a result of you marrying your life partner. How you choose to celebrate that will not dampen the ultimate truth and magic of love. Once you know that whatever you decide to include or exclude in your wedding will not take anything way from the commitment you’re making, you can go about creating the wedding best suited to your individual preferences and needs.

I often come across engaged couples that have very different ideas of how they would like to celebrate their wedding day. That is completely normal. We are all individuals after all. My advice is always to communicate motivations, intensions, and your visions and desires openly and honestly with one another so as to reach a list of priorities from both parties that meet a common understanding and goal with which both parties are happy and excited. Both of you deserve a celebration best suited to your needs that ultimately reflects you as a couple.

Your priorities should be ascertained by asking yourselves a series of question and having an in depth look at your motivations. Examples of such introspection should include: Why are you getting married? Why do you want a wedding? What kind of wedding would you like? Why?

A marriage celebrated with a conscious wedding is a magical experience for both the couple and guests.
