Give and Take

A healthy relationship is a beautiful thing. I have watched couples handle one another with consideration and have realised that as long as it’s a two-way give and take scenario, the blessing of the relationship is boundless. I’ve heard it said that we should aim to be the partner we wish to have, and I challenge us all to keep this in the fore of our minds when conducting our relationships. If you’re not feeling valued, consider whether your partner feels valued. I know I wouldn’t always appreciate being with me 🙂 perhaps you too have moments of unnecessary tendencies that challenge the flow of love and tenderness we would like flowing our way. As long as we are seeking to be the best we can be, the off-moments we all go through, are negligible. But if we are generally not the kind of partner we would want, it’s time to do something different.

I find taking deep breaths and putting things in perspective is the first step to ensuring a desirable reaction to challenges. If we love ourselves and want the best for ourselves, genuinely loving people will be made known to us. For the sake of healthy relationships with such people, we owe it to ourselves to seek internal harmony. We can only give and receive that which we are because as put so eloquently by the Beatles, “the love you take is equal to the love you make”.
