Our Story

Hello and thank you for stopping by.

A Pinch of Salt was borne of my desire to support like-minded individuals seeking alternatives to mainstream processes and methods that are not in line with their needs; priorities or values.

My interest in setting up such a platform first developed when I, in my early twenties, started to seriously consider my part and role in creating my life and reality. It gained steam when my husband and I were making plans to marry and build our lives together. We were disappointed to discover just how expensive and long-winded weddings could be, as well as how there was a conventionality to weddings that didn’t appeal to us. Most of the support I found for the version of wedding we were after, was found online and in individuals living abroad. I wanted to give other South African couples, the encouragement to step off the beaten path if that’s what they desired.

Once married and convinced that we weren’t crazy to want what we want, we approached everything from our understanding that where there was a will, there would be a way. We’ve bought houses, decorated and lived by first asking what we wished to achieve and therefore, ascertaining our priorities. We have found freedom and empowerment in this approach that I wish for every single person on Earth, especially South Africans that would like validation in this regard.

One relationship; wedding; marriage; and two houses later, we’re now applying this simple approach to growing our young family.

Nutrition; pregnancy; birth and parenting are the latest additions to our interests and will be approached with the same desire to do what is best for us in our circumstance.

Thank you for taking an interest in who and why we are. We hope that you are blessed by our suggestions and line of thought.

All the Best,

Hi Thina, nice to meet you. I do admire your courage and vision and determination to do things in ways that are right for you, and not just follow along with what others have always done. Kudos. And congratulations on the baby!
Thanks for visiting and for following our blog. I hope you enjoy the stories of our journey, both inner and outer.
